About the Author & Artist

Affectionately known as the "Queen of Joy", Shari SharStar Afflick is a pyrography artist, art teacher, and holistic wellness practitioner. As a self-taught artist her spiritual and creative journeys have always been deeply intertwined. Her artwork is a direct reflection of this journey, and often depicts her love of yoga, meditation, sacred geometry, and African culture. 

 

SharStar specializes in the ancient alchemical art of solar pyrography ("fire writing") in which she utilizes a magnifying glass to harness solar energy and burn into wood. Beyond just selling her own creations, she enjoys sharing the power of her creative process and enriching the lives of others through her classes and workshops on how to use "fire writing" as a powerful tool for meditation, mindfulness, and mental health. 

 

She holds bachelor's degrees in Child Development & Alternative Medicine, worked as a licensed practical nurse for over 10 years, and is currently a tenured Wellness Specialist at a premier vitamin supplement company based in South Florida. Her professional background in health care, as well as her personal spiritual practices have all contributed to her passion for promoting holistic wellbeing and embracing the mind-body connection. 

 

Light & Life Holistic Health, LLC. is her heliocentric (sun-centered) holistic wellness company, which focuses on promoting gut health for mental health, supporting vagus nerve stimulation, as well as creative expression to connect to the inner child and higher self.
